In December 2002 the Mermaid Inn was used as a film set for a production of the Detective series, 'Dalziel and Pascoe.' |

It features in one episode as a Hotel, situated in a remote area of the Yorkshire moors. The folk law of the district has in its history a legendary beast, as shown on the above painting, which hangs in the hotel. (A bit like the hound of the Baskervilles.) |

To shoot the episode, the Inn had to effectivly shut down for 2 weeks while the interior was re-constructed with beams, pillars, furnishings and wall hangings. Shown is a small sample of some of the re-construction. |
