Television Production of Dalziel and Pascoe.
In December 2002 the Mermaid Inn was used as a film set for a production of the
Detective series, 'Dalziel and Pascoe.'
It features in one episode as a Hotel, situated in a remote area of the Yorkshire
moors. The folk law of the district has in its history a legendary beast, as shown
on the above painting, which hangs in the hotel. (A bit like the hound of the
Baskervilles.)
To shoot the episode, the Inn had to effectivly shut down for 2 weeks while the
interior was re-constructed with beams, pillars, furnishings and wall hangings.
Shown is a small sample of some of the re-construction.
